About

After working for almost 50 years I decided to retire from office life and do something I love fulltime – Sew! I started Debby’s Sewing Room out of our home in Holly Springs, NC and have I been busy!

I learned how to sew from my mom who could sew anything-even without a pattern. She had just one sewing machine, I believe it was a Kenmore, and that machine sewed through everything. My sewing room is much different from my mom’s as multiple machines are needed for today’s fabrics and modern stitches. My “work horse” is a Juki which I use daily. I also have a Juki serger which sews, cuts and finishes the fabric edge all at one time. For hemming knits I use a Janome cover stitch machine and for sewing upholstery fabric I use my Reliable walking foot machine.
I’m still not done…..
For sewing a blind hem I have another Reliable machine just for that purpose. And finally, I recently purchased a Janome Memory Craft Embroidery Machine for monogramming, lettering and embroidery designs. What fun!!!!

That’s me in a large nutshell.
